Re: error loading snort

Two things to try. First, (the simplest) is to run "ldconfig -v" as root
(bottom of page 10).

If that does not take care of it, it will probably be associated with
the php install. Go to page 12. The ./configure --prefix=/www/php etc.
has to be done in one line only. This is a very common error that
occurs when doing the php compile. If you need help with this step,
e-mail me personally and we can work out the bumps.

Hello all,
I have used the SNORT INSTALLATION MANUAL(snort 2.0.0, Apache
2.0.45, PHP 4.3.1, MySQL 4.0.12 and Acid 0.9.6b23 install on RedHat
9) by Patrick S. Harper. I have apache up and running PHP works with
Apache and MySql is working it would seem as if Acid is also working
as I can get to the web interface. when trying to load snort I get
the following error:

snort: error while loading shared libraries:
libmysqlclient.so.12: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory

When installing snort i did the following:

            mkdir /etc/snort
            mkdir /var/log/snort
            tar -xzvf snort-2.0.0.tar.gz
            cd snort-2.0.0
            ./configure --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql
            make
            make install

any help any one could give would be great!

Thank you,
