Hi,
Thanks for answer.
But if i use the interface ppp0? then i don't know the ip-address, because the
ip is dynamic.
I have two interfaces. eth0 is for local net and eth1 for internet. but the ip
from eth1 is dynamic.
And now? Waht can i do? any idea?

Tom

You need to define $eth_ADDRESS in the config file

var $eth0_ADDRESS [0.0.0.0/0]

Replace the 0.0.0.0/0 with your own address/subnet

<cut>

#Home-Net
var HOME_NET $eth0_ADDRESS

When i start Snort i get the following error:

<cut>

Initializing rule chains...
ERROR: Undefined variable name: (/etc/snort/snort.eth0.conf:13):
eth0_ADDRESS
Fatal Error, Quitting..
