"strength" is one thing. load is another. if you have "strong" machines,
would they be strong enough to handle both checkpoint,  snort,  and  god
knows what else you want to throw at them ?

intrusion detection is a very-ressource demanding technology.

by the way, what alert plugin(s) are you planning to use?
