snort problem

Hi Folks,
I have attached a word document containing the exact setup guide I am
using to install snort in windows 2000. I am working on a final year
college project and m project is about setting up snort, research
writing a few of my own rules etc. 
However I am having problems getting it to work. If I go into the
command prompt and type snort -v -i2 (adapter number 2) then I am
getting the alerts etc on the dos screen. Is snort supposed to generate
a popup? I don't think acid is working, maybe you can help me with it???
When I go into the localhost/acid after following the setup instructions
I get the acid file opened (the config) file but I odnt get the message
I am supposed to get. So I guess snort is ok, its sniffing packets etc
but can anyone help me to resolve the problem and get mysql acid and
snort to actually work and display alerts?
