I believe Jeff is onto something here.  I have observed that a user would
experience the same sort of errors during compilation if they are using the
most recent version of libnet 1.1.0.  compilation failed everytime for any
version builds (1.87, 1.90 and any betas) using libnet 1.1.0.  However, the
1.90 compiled just fine using libnet 1.0.2a and/or 1.0.0..........

Do you have libnet 1.0.2a installed?

The linker is failing as it doesn't seem to know where libnet is.  I 
believe FreeBSD automatically uses /usr/local/lib for its ldcache.  This 
leads me to believe you may not have libnet installed.
