I am running thru the Snort,Mysql, acid manual for rhat 7.3. I am at the point of setting passwords for accounts on the database.. I was able to run all my grant stuff but the docs say to set the passwords for mysql? Shouldn't it be snort? Either way it fails with syntax errors. I am copying the syntax directly from the manual page 19. This is causing my configuration to not work ( see below ) Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs snort: Conversation Config: Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs snort: KeepStats: 0 Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs snort: Conv Count: 32000 Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs snort: Timeout : 60 Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs snort: Alert Odd?: 0 Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs snort: Allowed IP Protocols: Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs snort: All Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs snort: Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs snort: Portscan2 config: Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs snort: log: /var/log/snort/scan.log Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs snort: scanners_max: 3200 Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs snort: targets_max: 5000 Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs snort: target_limit: 5 Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs snort: port_limit: 20 Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs snort: timeout: 60 Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs snort: FATAL ERROR: database: mysql_error: Access denied for user: 'snort@localhost' (Using password: YES) Nov 20 13:55:30 pcp007251pcs kernel: device eth0 left promiscuous mode ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by: Battle your brains against the best in the Thawte Crypto Challenge.
