Problems with Snort ?

Hi guys,
after having succesfully deployed snort sensor on my network now I'm
encountering some problems.
My DB, MySQL, has reached until 150K rows; I'm actually observing that
snort can't detect portscan on my network and
the query option which gives the possibility to sort the results based
on timestamp in not properly working.
My question : someone of you can help with the snort.conf file, and of
course telling me if you had same problems with the db.
Regards,

A.
