Snort on Enterprise and multi-site

Tips please. If you were to setup snort on an enterprise and multi-site
network, how would you
implement it?

1. what type of logging?
2. if database, what would it be?
3. is barnyard still a contender?

I know some answers here would be "it depends". But if you can come up on
how you setup yours,
that would be definitely be of great help.
