Yes.

It's not really in production yet, but I've got an alpha running FreeBSD with 
a gig fiber card in it... I've tested it in various configurations and it runs 
ok.. though I don't have too many hard numbers.

The alpha is better than an intel box here simply because all of the PCI fiber 
cards I found for a 64-bit PCI bus, it worked ok on a 32 bit bus, but not as 
well.
