Carlos, It's not the same from each *NIX to *NIX. It's very close, but each OS has it's own variants. In it's most basic form, you specify what facility and priority go to what file, then restart syslog and have it re-read the file. Trust us.... The manpage tells you all about it. :) Have a look at your /etc/syslog.conf. That might shed some light on it for you.
