Snort External Alert Sensors

hi,

im Nanthan a postgraduate student from University of Technology Malaysia.i'm one of the snort IDS user. My research 
is"Detection of DoS attacks using sensors". Im going to develope the sensors where these sensors would act as real time 
alert sensors which would provide alert to administrator when there are DoS attacks by analyzing the ip,protocol and 
signature.

These sensors is some sort of ACID in Snort but i want some suggestions if i could do something different where i can 
contribute to the SNORT comunity and as for the research purpose.

can u help me on this? 

are there any Sensors in windows platform? i thought of looking into that?
