Hello again; 2 more questions. Q1. Regarding http://www.snort.org/, the "Nifty Tapping Diagrams" section: What kind of hardware would split Gigabit traffic into 10 x 100MBit lines?
A load balancer. Two companies, Top Layer and Radware produce such devices.
Q2. Is it possible to make Snort chop up logfiles (Text or TCPDUMP) into nice 650/700 MB chunks that fit on cdroms...?
You can use tcpslice (ftp://ftp.ee.lbl.gov/) to split pcap files into smaller pieces.
Thanks, Glenn
