problems with mysql and snort

I keep getting the following error when trying to compile snort.  I used the following for the config
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/snort --enable-flexresp  -with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql

 I'm running debian 2..2.3r with a compiled 2.2.19 kernel.

I also installed the binary version of mysql.  If that is the problem does anyone have the proper ./configure for
