Not logging any alerts ??

   I have a box on my internal network and I run a portscan from inside my 
network and get lots of alerts. Now I set up snort on an external box with 
the same rules and monitor the external ip of the same box. Now I run a 
portscan from outside the network. On this box I get no alerts?? Any help on 
this would be greatly apreciated.
