acid + archive db

I know this has prolly been hashed out before, mysql puked on me while I
was moving stuff to the archive db, so for fun, I deleted
/var/db/mysql/snort/ directory (I left snort_archive), recreated the
directory, and started everything up. I have not found a way to access the
archive DB from withing a single instance of acid.  Am I missing
something, or has the underlying functionality been added, however the
front end has yet to be updated to access it, or am I just completely off
and missing something.
