How to install snort on Windows 2000?

I tried to read the documents on www.snort.org. I still got no idea to
install snort. Must I have VC++ in order to compile the package? If yes,
do I need to download all snort-1.7-win32* in order to compile it. I am
just a newbie on snort. I appreciate for your help.
