Hi sc-ler,

I know that many of you follow the Building Security In department in
IEEE Security & Privacy magazine, now edited by John Steven and Gunnar
Peterson (and started several years ago by Silver Bullet Security
Podcast host Gary McGraw). I'm interested in your feedback on the
department (and the podcast too for that matter). What do you like?
What do you want to see? Is S&P meeting the needs of the software
security community on this list?

If you're going to RSA, make sure to attend the IEEE S&P hosted panel
Rootkits: Beyond Good and Evil on Tuesday, Feb 6th at 1:30 pm. The
panel is moderated by Gary McGraw and features panelists Greg Hoglund,
Jamie Butler (esteemed authors of Rootkits), Bill Arbaugh (UMd prof),
and Ivan Arce (Core Security). We'd love to see you there! Come learn
about rootkits, the ultimate tool in the attacker's arsenal (and Sony's
arsenal too).

Most important, afterward we're hosting a meet-and-greet reception
with free wine and appetizers. This is your chance to schmooze with the
panelists
and talk software security.

Hope to see you there!

Kathy
