you might want to let your readers know about the TIVO article in this 
week's u.s. news. TIVO is quoted widely as saying they changed the wording 
in their manual. but i had them fax the new manual to me, and it still 
contains a line which reads:"all personal viewing information stays on the 
receiver and does not get transmitted to TiVo without your consent."  i 
quote it in my story. here's the link:
