Bush aims at tech vote

George W Bush, the Republican presidential frontrunner,
appealed for high-tech votes in Tuesday's Washington state
primary by suggesting he would drop the Microsoft antitrust
lawsuit if he wins the White House this year.

While campaigning in Seattle, close to Microsoft's headquarters,
the Texas governor sought to shore up his support among
Republican voters in the high-tech industry, as polls suggested
the primary was too close to call.

Mr Bush's backers in Washington state said they were convinced the governor would settle the lawsuit on coming to power. Slade Gorton, the Washington senator and state chairman of the Bush campaign, said "I don't think a Bush administration would have brought it in the
 first place."
