RE: Autoresponders, Vacation messages

Thanks for the tips. My sleep-deprived brain wasn't fully in gear when
sending that request to the list out. The suggestion to unsubscribe was a
last resort (or for people in large organizations running Exchange where
their calendaring app will automate autoresponders for PTO but the chances
of getting their messaging team to setup filters is about as likely as pigs
flying...not that I have personal experience with that *blink*).

Yet another reminder that if you are going to be on

Please either disable your autoresponder or unsubscribe
from the list
for the period you will be away. Your fellow list members (and
moderator!) appreciate it.

It's sufficient to take care of a certain set of criteria...

1. don't reply twice to the same address 2. don't answer to
Precedence: bulk or Precedence: list 3. _do_ loop checks. ;-)

This is usually already sufficient. I use to add a couple of
other checks to that for customers that do want
autoresponders. However, there's no reason at all to disable
your subscription (Except for the couple of hours it takes
upon return to catch up with all the mail).
