its gotta be one of the ultimate linux live cds.
These live cds come on various flavours like

Forensics/Data Recovery 
System/Network Analysis and Security Scanning 
Temporary Network Device/Server 
IDS / NIDS System 
Network Status Report Creation 

Each distro has its own specific usage like Knoppix-Std
is the best for Pen-test purposes.. 
has a lot of tools built in for it.
