Mostly security controls suggested/put in place are considered a hindrance to productivity. Nothing kills a security program faster than an over enthusiastic security manager riding rough-shod over the users' convenience at working. Try to work out your security controls that enhance productivity and convey the thought that security controls do not imply a lack of trust over employees but rather provide a secure work environment and protects their actions. Security controls can never be divorced from business needs. You will earn your management's everlasting gratitude if you tailor your security controls in line with business requirements and, more importantly, let them know of this.
