CEH meets the gov't DoD 8570 requirement. It's in the matrix along with
CISSP, but it's faster to knock out. So if you're going to do
contracting work, then it isn't a bad one to get. Most certifications
are simply about having the right ticket to get punched for the HR train
anyway.

Unfortunately too late bought the books built a lab and have a good
chunk of the course read. No stopping now.

To be honest it's not the hardest exam going so far but it is at least a
start.

Should have started years ago

I'd recommend PWB v3 (OSCP) over CEH any day. Much more useful
information and knowledge.

                Hi,

Im seriously thinking of doing the CEH exams and was

here who can answer a question or two.

It's worth noting that CEH teaches damn near nothing about
ethics, and the name implies that those of us that don't
possess it are by definition, unethical. (see Jack's rant on
        that one).

For the most part, it teaches you to be a 'tools regurgitor' -
showing you how to do things, but not why they work the way
        they do.

In short, CEH is a great cert to look for on a resume when
you''re looking for people that can do particular repeatable
work within Infosec - as an indication of creative, critical
analysis skills within the field however, much less so.

(or basically, if you want a guy to run the companies internal
vuln scans, it's great - but I wouldn't hire an incident
response guy on the strength of a CEH).
