Again +1 for Matt :-)

As mentioned it is clunky when trying to do things while on the move, once things settle down I plan on looking at the entire RFID project I did and seeing how to make it easier to do things on the move.

Johan,

I have a Proxmark3. With the antennas they sell at Proxmark3.com the
read range is about an inch with the LF antenna and about half an inch
with the HF antenna. You could make your own custom antennas and
increase the read the range.

The Proxmark3 is a very powerful and versatile device. Its great if you
want to reverse engineer or manipulate RFID tags.

Cheers,
Matt

I'd be interested to hear what you end up doing with those
if it's anything more than just exploring. (The same goes
             for you too Larry!)

That being said I said I was going to go buy some last
Friday and I got to the shack they were supposed to be at
and they couldn't find them. >.< I'm hoping I'll have
another chance this week to go take a look.

Ok, after what Matt said, and doing some more looking
around, maybe 125Khz is used in more than just the
hobby world. Got some bigger items on order, but Radio
                 Shack was clearing out these:
                 http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2906723

Seem to work with just an FTDI cable, and for less
than $9 I bought the last two in Louisville. :)
