Re: is CASP (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner) really much simpler than CISSP?

I took the CASP last fall in preparation for co-authoring a new SANS prep course (course is set to beta in Boston in
June). For background, I also co-authored Syngress CISSP Study Guide.

In my opinion the CASP could either be easier or more difficult than the CISSP, depending on your background. The
target audience of each is different. The CISSP is geared towards managers, while the CASP is targeted for technical
folks. If your background is technical, and I expect it is if you are on this list, then I would anticipate you
finding the CASP to be easier than the CISSP.

One other thing. In my opinion, the CASP questions were pretty clear and straightforward. This doesn't make the
answers necessarily easy, but at least you don't have to worry so much about struggling to make sense of the questions.

Hope this helps,
Seth

Hi

Last year I failed the CISSP exam. Now preparing for CASP with study guide titled CASP CompTIA Advanced Security
Practitioner Study Guide: Exam CAS-001 (ISBN-13: 978-1118083192).

I know more than 90% of this study guide already and score at the questions (after every chapter) very well.

Is CASP exam really that much simpler? Anyone took the exam and can write a little review?

all the best
Alex
