I'm sitting in a SANS course writing this email. It's worth every penny.
SANS has some work-study options that you can check in to for a reduced rate on training. As others have said it's some of the best training you can get.

Date: Friday, July 15, 2011, 11:06 AM GIAC certifications are not to be taken lightly and are worth every penny.
GIAC and SANS have spent prodigious effort to make their courses and certifications some of the most highly regarded in the industry. For example, the GSEC security certification is now second only to the CISSP as one of the most desirable OpSec certifications you can get.
And you have to work for them. You won't find study guides or brain dumps.
You are able to take the exam without a course, but you better be really good. And don't forget, you will have to re-certify in 4 years.
For cost savings, check the Self-Study packages. And, no, I don't work for them. Marn Williams MCSA, GSEC, G2700, Linux+ Senior Security Specialist -----Original Message----- From: pauldotcom-bounces () pdc-mail pauldotcom com [mailto:

But sadly this is a rip-off - SEC 506: Securing Linux/Unix $3,396 - GIAC GCUX Certification Attempt $499 - OnDemand Bundle $399 Didn't find a study guide on Amazon. How to prepare for and take the exam
with no more than $900 costs? Any book with similar topics like the exam objectives?
