What exactly are you looking for then? A Single Sign On solution? Most applications and web services support LDAP. But 
let me understand.... You're looking for a complicated, fully integrated SSO, for a large corporation, but don't want 
to pay for it? Dunno what to tell you... Though Oracles products are free to use in a "lab" :-)

No. A directory server is only one small part in a IdM environment.
OpenLDAP is only one managed system of a central user management and
provisioning. IdM environments are typically in very large corporation
with lots of applications and systems.
