Host IPS that hooks into the kernel?

Hi, On one of the shows a couple of (or it could have been many) months ago, Mick mentioned that there was another Host based IPS that hooked into the Windows kernel similar to the Cisco Security Agent.... And that HIPS agent was the "only other one"... other than CSA, that can enforce policy in and out of the kernel. I was wondering what that package or agent was? and if anyone has used it?
