Check out their LocatePC software that will send an email from your PC so you can track it if it is stolen. http://www.ligattsecurity.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2211&Itemid=234 "A user will need to have a POP email account for LocatePC to send them email. LocatePC can only send email if a user is logged in to the PC, and the PC is connected to the Internet. LocatePC does not support HTTP proxy servers, mail servers that use SSL or SPA or IMAP, including Gmail and Hotmail2, or email accounts that only work when the PC is connected to a specific ISP." I shall let their statement speak for itself. Jim p.s. I'm not 100% certain after reading the above statement that LocatePC actually supports email :-/ 2010/1/25 Jason Wood <tadaka at gmail.com>
So this company appeared on the DC3 digest for the day and I've got to admit, I'm really puzzling over it. The article on CNN made me wonder how they decided to focus on Ligatt. Ligatt's website only increased the the feeling that this couldn't be for real. Now I see a press release from them being highlighted by the DoD Cyber Crime Center. What the heck? How does a company that sounds this squirrely get to be taken seriously? For those interested, here's the press release that was in today's DC3 email. http://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/g97641/stacy-l-merrell-named-as-ligatt-security-new-president-and-opens-office-in-wash Jason On Fri, Jan 22, 2010 at 8:07 AM, craig bowser <reswob10 at gmail.com> wrote:Apparently I'm not a real hacker because I read that site four times and I STILL don't understand what the heck they are selling... It's the only thing that makes any sense. _______________________________________________ Pauldotcom mailing list Pauldotcom at mail.pauldotcom.com http://mail.pauldotcom.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pauldotcom Main Web Site: http://pauldotcom.com_______________________________________________ Pauldotcom mailing list Pauldotcom at mail.pauldotcom.com http://mail.pauldotcom.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pauldotcom Main Web Site: http://pauldotcom.com-- irc: Tadaka Twitter: Jason_Wood jwnetworkconsulting.com _______________________________________________ Pauldotcom mailing list Pauldotcom at mail.pauldotcom.com http://mail.pauldotcom.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pauldotcom Main Web Site: http://pauldotcom.com
