Sorry for your lost. The first few things that comes to mine is to have his relatives contact the three major credit 
bureau. The can provide proof of death and have his record closed in all accounts indefinitely.

Also have them contact the social security administration and do the same thing. So instead of going on an offensive 
end I would first start with the defensive angle.
