Hey Irongeek -
They do have 501(c)(3) status, according to Johnny. On the "itemized
deduction" form (schedule a) you only need to list the charity name and
amount. I believe deductions are retroactive to when the organization
*files* for 501(c)(3) status, so I should imagine you would be good for
calendar 2009.

Hi folks,

I also asked on the http://www.hackersforcharity.org site, but someone
on this list may already know, and it may serve as a good reminder for a
worthwhile charity.

Did Johnny Long get all of the paperwork with the IRS to go through,
and are donations via paypal to IHC now tax deductible for the 2009 tax
year? I've not donate much before, so I'm not sure how you write such things
off. Do you know what proof the IRS might want when I file my taxes?

Thanks,
Adrian
