2140 keyboard is definitely better - local microcenter had it up here I have seen some posts/rumors that HP is coming out with a 2145 next month that will have a better display - unknown what that will do to the price however 2009/3/17 thefitz <thefitzman at gmail.com>
I'm rocking a Fujitsu u2010. It's tiny, light, tablet/touch screen, has 3g, runs linux (backtrack4 tested), and it's PINK! The best part is I removed the hard drive and put it a 32gb compact flash instead and it's EXTREMELY fast (acceptable write speeds). I bought a second CF card for linux and I swap out when needed but it isn't exactly easy to swap out (working on that part. 2009/3/17 Jonathan Cran <jcran at 0x0e.org>Ah, I wasn't aware of the 2140. Thanks for the heads up. The 2140 apparently fixes all the complaints i have about the 1000 series: - no bluetooth (2140 has built-in bluetooth) - requires an adapter for VGA out (2140 has built-in vga) - slightly cheap feel to the keyboard (the 2140 looks more sturdy / aluminum case / durakeys?) very cool. jcran -----Original Message----- From: pauldotcom-bounces at mail.pauldotcom.com on behalf of xgermx Sent: Tue 3/17/2009 9:58 AM To: PaulDotCom Security Weekly Mailing List Subject: Re: [Pauldotcom] Netbook for travel and hacking Not to nitpick, but the HP 2140 is the successor to the 2133. The 2000 line is their "business series", hence the steep price (comes w/Vista Business). The 1000/Mi series though is the consumer model (Mi/Ubuntu) 2009/3/17 Jonathan Cran <jcran at 0x0e.org>:The HP Mini 1000 series is the successor to the 2133. Has an intel atom (1.6) and 1gb, expandable to 2. Really slick, and a nice size keyboard (larger than any other i've seen). I'm really happy with it. also has a broadcom (b43) wireless card that can inject out of the box (haven't tested). one caveat, HP has not released the external monitor adapter (yet).problemswith distribution. http://www.hp.com/united-states/campaigns/mini1000/alt.html http://hexesec.wordpress.com/2008/11/29/hp-1030nr/ (blatentself-linking)jcran -----Original Message----- From: pauldotcom-bounces at mail.pauldotcom.com on behalf of RaffiJamgotchianSent: Tue 3/17/2009 9:27 AM To: PaulDotCom Security Weekly Mailing List Cc: PaulDotCom Security Weekly Mailing List Subject: Re: [Pauldotcom] Netbook for travel and hacking I was looking at the same thing last night. Problem with the HP that was linked to is that its a VIA processor which is grossly slower than the Atom chips. I like the Dell too and will be probably buying one myself. let us know which way you go. Some of them put some keys in strange places and can really mess you up when typing until you get used to it. I like the Dell Mini myself. J 2009/3/17 Nils <nils at hemmann.de> Hey guys, Im thinking about replacing my quite reliable IBM X30 with a netbook. As there are quite some available by now (eeePC, MSI Wind, Dell Mini ...) the choice is pretty hard. What are your recommendations / experiences. Some preferences for me would be: -light and small ( useless to say ;-) ) -musst be dual bootable (Win / Linux [Backtrack]) -Disk space is not so important -External antenna mod and other mods musst be possible To make it short, the ultimate companion for traveling, hacking, having fun while not at home. SQL Express should work fine for this. And definitely check out the Foundstone Hacme series, as John suggested on Ep 143. Hacme bank is GREAT!!! I believe that is the free version. That will give you 2 things, 1 a test bed, and 2 a good piece of SW to learn on, that will probably be installed (as a feature of other software) On Mon, Mar 16, 2009 at 9:06 AM, Robin Wood <dninja at gmail.com> wrote: Hi I'm setting up a windows lab machine and want sql server on it. I'm looking at playing with basic sql injection and stored procedures, in particular xp_cmdshell. Does anyone know if there are any differences for this kind of thing between the express version of sql server and the paid for versions or are the differences purely in the amount of data and things like that?
