smb-enum-shares/smbauth & ntlmv2 problems

Group policy in our environment is currently configured to accept NTLMv2 only, I'm struggling to get any smb scripts that require auth to work correctly running 7.12 on Windows. If I'm interpreting correctly, smbtype=v2 should attempt both LM2 and NTLMv2, but it is not working, and when in debug mode I don't even see the NTLMv2 hash and response created. Am I missing something, or does this statement for the smbauth arguments mean that environments where only NTLMv2 is allowed won't work?: NTLMv2: Doesn't exist; the protocol doesn't support NTLMv2 alone.
