Hi. A simple scan of my local network (with -O) detected my android cellphone and its manufacturer. It didn't gave me specific OS details, though. 2014-03-09 14:18 GMT-03:00 Subhankar Rj <subhankar.rj () gmail com>:
Hi, Since my last mail didn't get any response either cause my idea was too stupid or cause no one read my mail so I am gonna try once again as I think this is a good feature Nmap could have. Is it presently possible by using some strange combination of parameters to detect the make and OS of a mobile device using Nmap ? I don't think its possible. I am thinking of combining passive scanning along with other known methods to introduce mobile device fingerprinting in Nmap. Tricky part is mobile devices don't listen to any port but there are other ways to detect them. Before doing further research I would like to know your opinion weather it is worthwhile or an unrequited feature. Thanks, Subhankar _______________________________________________ Sent through the dev mailing list http://nmap.org/mailman/listinfo/dev Archived at http://seclists.org/nmap-dev/
