Hie, I am Subhankar Raj, a first year Software Engineering student from Chennai, India. Being in first year I have quite a lot of "free" time and with summer break coming up I was eagerly waiting for Google Summer of code. I came in touch with Nmap while doing a Certified Ethical Hacker course. So when i heard Nmap was a participating organization in Google Summer of code this year I decided to learn all that was needed to write useful NSE script. In the process I learn the basics of Lua and went through Fyodor's book on Nmap. I am still learning. My University LAN has thousands of connected hosts and I believe most of them are not properly configured. I use to scan hosts and try find information about it and run exploits when applicable. Also I am always facinated by the CCTV cameras and used to wonder what I could do if I had access to there feeds(read facial recognition). There was this idea for a cctv-dvr-brute NSE script on the scripts idea page I started working on it. The script is basically a port from Metaspoilt framework, where it tries to brute force authenticate over port 5920/TCP and then attempts to determine if the IE ActiveX control used for video streaming is running on port 80/TCP. I am kind of stuck with the syntax. Any ideas for a beginners script inline with what I am trying to do ? Any other beginners script that would help clear my concepts? Thanks, Subhankar Raj _______________________________________________ Sent through the dev mailing list http://nmap.org/mailman/listinfo/dev Archived at http://seclists.org/nmap-dev/
