NMap Reports Invalid Scan Results in OS X While on VPN

There appears to be an issue running nmap scans while on a VPN on Mac OS X
Mtn Lion (Noticed it in Lion as well).  I noticed this bug  while using a
Cisco VPN, NMap 6.25 on OSX.  The following thread describes the issue

I noticed this particularly when I got the host down on the Host OS running
nmap on OS X (I knew the host was up though), but different (and valid)
results when running Nmap on a NATed guest VM using Backtrack.
