And Nmap had a version 3.9999 in 2006.  You might want to look at how
packaging software like RPM and APT handle version comparisons.  Also,
some software will use labels like "5.0 Alpha" or Beta before the
actual 5.0 release (Nmap may uses those terms, but the numeric part
always increases for each new release anyway to avoid confusion).
