I've been trying to keep compatibility with PyGTK 2.8, not for anyspecial reason but only because that was a reasonable choice at the time I started caring about it. Debian stable has 2.12. Just now looking, Isee a place where we're even checking for gtk.STOCK_ABOUT, which wasintroduced in PyGTK 2.6. But we can probably start to relax the oldestof these restrictions.
I think PyGTK 2.12 has been stable in Debian for well over a year, and is over 3 years old now, so I'd hope it's not too bleeding edge :)
I suspect most Windows users will run the py2exe binaries we generate using relatively recent packages, but I suppose I mustn't forget older Linux servers etc. that might be running old versions of code.
