nmap help

Hi
I am trying to install nmap on my fedora virtual machine
I downloaded the pacakge and tried to install it
i typed ./configure and it gave me this message :
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

any help please ?
