Nmap developer Marek Majkowski with some interesting notes
on async programming. I agree there's still a lot of work
to be done to make a good universal async API and there's
still a few important open problems:

This is one of the ways that the iPhone "Locate Me" feature
works. They have guys drive around and record BSSIDs and
locations which can be queried through a proprietary API.
