Hi Michael, Thanks, tried to install the microsoft rtl stuff, but that wouldn't install on this w2k box, even though the usoft description specifically says that it works with win2k sp4. Error message was:
Thats too bad, if the 2008 runtime isn't compatible with win2k then future Nmap versions wont be ether. There goes the backwards compatibility neighborhood. But I guess windows wants you to start developing embedded things on vista.
Reverted to plan b and installed the earlier 4.60 version, but that complains about not being able to open eth0. Quote: dnet: Failed to open device eth0 QUITTING ! Perhaps it thinks it's running Linux ?.
Nmap simulates the eth* interface names by just assigning each interface one, its easier to specify a specific interface that way. You can list all the interfaces by running the following in the command line: nmap --iflist I've seen that error once before, the solution was to uninstall the winpcap that nmap installed and reinstall it. you can get it here: http://www.winpcap.org/install/default.htm Cheers, Michael _______________________________________________ Sent through the nmap-dev mailing list http://cgi.insecure.org/mailman/listinfo/nmap-dev Archived at http://SecLists.Org
