One final thought I had: should the Windows setup/zip files include COPYING.OpenSSL (and perhaps display it as part of the setup file's LICENCE page) now that the binaries support OpenSSL?
I was thinking about this for the Mac installer too. There's a lot of copyrighted software, some of which has been slightly modified (by me) to make it build in MacPorts. I'm careful to record all the modifications I make in the file macports-1.7.0-universal.diff, so we could provide complete corresponding source code if required to do so. But it seems like we should include licenses for all the included software. It doesn't have to be obtrusive, just a file in the .dmg that the user can delete if he wants to. We could use the licenses from http://seclists.org/nmap-dev/2007/q4/0747.html. However, the other free software Mac OS X applications I looked at (Wireshark, Inkscape, Gimp) don't include all these licenses, if I remember correctly. Unfortunately PyGTK brings in a huge number of dependencies. This is a list of the libraries that come in Zenmap.app/Contents/Frameworks: libXrender.1.dylib libglib-2.0.0.dylib libpangoft2-1.0.0.dylib libatk-1.0.0.dylib libgmodule-2.0.0.dylib libpixman-1.0.dylib libcairo.2.dylib libgobject-2.0.0.dylib libpng12.0.dylib libcrypto.0.9.8.dylib libgthread-2.0.0.dylib libpython2.5.dylib libexpat.1.dylib libgtk-x11-2.0.0.dylib libsqlite3.0.dylib libfontconfig.1.dylib libiconv.2.dylib libssl.0.9.8.dylib libfreetype.6.dylib libintl.8.dylib libtiff.3.dylib libgdk-x11-2.0.0.dylib libjpeg.62.dylib libxml2.2.dylib libgdk_pixbuf-2.0.0.dylib libpango-1.0.0.dylib libz.1.dylib libglade-2.0.0.dylib libpangocairo-1.0.0.dylib David _______________________________________________ Sent through the nmap-dev mailing list http://cgi.insecure.org/mailman/listinfo/nmap-dev Archived at http://SecLists.Org
