Hi, No that is not the problem. I have a wireless mesh network configured at my home. I think nmap does not like this. I can access the Internet just fine. :-) On 4/2/07, Dude VanWinkle <dudevanwinkle () gmail com> wrote:
it looks like you have a self-assigned ip address. this happens when you dont get a dhcp ack back from your wireless router. try to make sure you can reach www.insecure.org from your wireless connection before trying nmap. -JP On 4/2/07, Scott Burch <camberwind () gmail com> wrote:Hi, I've found that I cannot get nmap to work on my HP nw8440's Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG Network Interface. I am running 4.20 with WinPcap 4.0. I am running Vista Ultimate with all the latest updates as of this date. Here is some output. You will note that the MAC address of the wireless interface is not listed and the interface name is net0 with a type of other. I think this may be part of the problem. I am able to run current WireShark, Packetyzer, and Microsoft Network Monitor 3.0 on this interface. I haven't seen anyone discussing and issue like this yet, so I thought I'd post this information to the list. Note: I do not subscribe to this mailing list, so I will need to be copied on the reply. I'm working my way through testing many things on Vista..and I try to report issues to appropriate people as I find them. I'm not sure if this is an issue specific to my system or something with device naming conventions for wireless interfaces in Vista. If more details are needed I am more than happy to provide them.
