I think everyone is still waiting for Qt4 to comile :). I have a
snappy machine, and that must have taken at least an hour or two.
That innocent-looking 20MB tarball expands to more than 100MB with 8,726
files! But once I got Qt installed, NmaGUI was up and running quickly
and was worth it. It looks great! I'll send more feedback tomorrow,
but here are my initial notes:

o It is good that you had compilation instructions at
  http://home.no.net/grodaas/nmap/README.txt

o Those instructions should probably include the Qt tarball location,
as it is a pain to find on Qt's site. I found it at
  ftp://ftp.trolltech.com/qt/source/qt-x11-opensource-src-4.0.1.tar.gz .

o Maybe there should be a warning that people can take a nap, or maybe
even a weekend vacation, between steps 4 (qt 'make') and 5 (qt 'su
-c make install'). Sorry to keep whining about this :). It's not
your fault, and not really a big deal either. And to Trolltech's
credit, that monstrosity compiled the first time with no errors.
And they are slick widgets! Plus, most distros will likely soon
  include Qt4.

o Your compilation page instructs to run qmake in the nmapgui-1.0.2
dir. I also had to run it in nmapgui-1.0.2/src before compilation
  worked. Then it compiled perfectly.

o I started the application. Wow! It is obvious that you put a ton
of work into this. The organization looks good.

o Your NmapGUI and Adriano's UMIT both utilize scan templates, while
NmapFE has no such concept. I think it is a great idea though.

o Ther persistance is great. I quit and started it up again, and it
  remembered my previous scans.

o I'm glad the GUI panes are very flexible. I hate apps that don't
properly expand/contract when you resize the window or that force
you to use their default and sub-optimal subpane sizes.

o Any chance you can add the Nmap command-line on the main screen, so
I can see what exactly is going to be done when I press scan? I'd
like to see it in the scan-in-progress window too so I can tell what
is running in a particular scan window. Maybe it could simply be
prepended right above the Nmap output (before "Starting nmap 3.93
  ...").

o Whoa, I just found the "View -> Nmap Commands" option which does
most of what I just asked for. Rock on! I would suggest turning that
  on by default.

o It is great that you have keyboard shortcuts for almost everything.

o I haven't had a chance to play with them much, but the "search" and
  "compare results" dialogues look great.

o The default templates could use a lot of work, but that is a trivial
detail as they are so easy to change. Is there a way to delete a
  user-created template?

Anyway, great work! With your NmapGUI and Adriano's UMIT, I think the
days of NmapFE are numbered!

Cheers,
Fyodor
