Nmap not working on XP Pro

I appoligise for writing you directly, but I was reading the message
boards and found that many other people had the same problem I just
encountered. Nmap used to work great for me on XP Pro but all of a sudden
it did not work (I installed ethereal and it wanted me to upgrade my
winpcap to 3.1 I believe..). It kept saying that no hosts could be
reached even though I could ping them....I tried installing and
uninstalling Winpcap and basically all the program files that i could
find. I even tried to install the new Winpcap with still no success.
So...I uninstalled Winpcap ...rebooted and
installed a much later version of Winpcap version 2.3 with complete
success....
After I completed this I performed a test installing and uninstalling
Winpcap version 3.0 and 3.1...rebooting after each install. I determined
that (for me at least) Winpcap version 3.0 and 3.1 did not work on my
computer....

good luck
Dave
