I compiled beta 2.54beta30 on Saturday on XP using .NET beta2, and with a debug configuration it worked except that I got an assertion about a variable being accessed before being initialized every time it started doing a scan on a host, on each separate host of a .* scan it gave the assertion, but clicking ignore made it work. I did a release build to remove the assertion, and it worked perfectly. Stou P.S. The assertion was: --------------------------- Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library --------------------------- Debug Error! Program: ...p-2.54BETA30\nmap-2.54BETA30\mswin32\nmap-2.54BETA30\nmap.exe Module: ...p-2.54BETA30\nmap-2.54BETA30\mswin32\nmap-2.54BETA30\nmap.exe File: c:\downloads\toolz\nmap-2.54beta30\nmap-2.54beta30\output.c Line: 227 Run-Time Check Failure #3 - The variable 'ch' is being used without being defined. (Press Retry to debug the application) --------------------------- Abort Retry Ignore ---------------------------

Hi All, The Nmap-dev and Nmap-hackers lists have been broken for the last couple weeks due to a hardware upgrade gone awry :). Since you received this, they must be working again. In other news, someone on the pen-test list is asking about Nmap support for Win XP and I've received several personal queries about the same issue. Has anyone tried compiling/running Nmap 2.54Beta30 on Windows XP or XP Pro? Does it work? What version, if any, of Winpcap are you using? Cheers, Fyodor PS: Merry Christmas :)
