All, Nmap amongst many other hacking tools is being featured in a new cyber thriller called Z4CK. Z4CK, meaning Zaurus-ACK, in technical terms lies somewhere between films such as 'The Net' and the excellent technical novel 'Stealing the Continent'. Duncan Steele has nowhere to run when he creates Z4CK, the magic bullet that allows him to bypass any network security. Government agencies are desperate to obtain this new security tool. Framed for a murder he didn't commit, Duncan must use all his skills to survive and clear his name. Z4CK involves a murder story based in Scotland intertwined with network and wireless hacking, social engineering, circumventing firewalls, and dumpster diving. The book mentions some of our favourite tools including Nmap, Nessus, and Hydra. The novel was written over the space of a year, and the good thing is its available in PDF, Palm Doc and Plucker formats for $3, and in paperback for £7.50. Even better, the first 6 chapters are completely free.
