I use http://www.arin.net/cgi-bin/queryinput=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx to dump the whois info for offending IPs. I need a better URL to show all domain infos but it appears that internic has been divided into 100's of pieces.
http://samspade.org has a good set of tools for checking across many whois servers, using the IPblock option. There are web-based and Windows tools to perform the lookup. If you need to use the whois servers directly, my top 8 list is: Whois - APNIC (IP Asia Pacific) <http://www.apnic.net/apnic-bin/whois.pl> Whois - ARIN (IP US) <http://www.arin.net/whois/index.html> Whois - Ripe (IP Europe) <http://www.ripe.net/cgi-bin/whois> Whois - Department of Defense <http://www.nic.mil/cgi-bin/whois> Whois - InterNIC (Domain US) <http://rs.internic.net/whois.html> Whois - NetworkSolutions (Domain US) <http://www.networksolutions.com/cgi-bin/whois/whois> Whois - Nominet (Domain UK) <http://www.nic.uk/whois.html> Whois - TLDs, Whois Servers and their Registries <http://www.apnic.net/maps/tld-list.html> Andrew Yeomans (Andrew.Yeomans () dresdnerkb com) Information Security Consultancy, Dresdner Kleinwort Benson Tel: 020 7475 9086 Fax: 020 7475 5388 Mobile: 07967 225095 Pager: 01523 494985 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This email and any files transmitted with it are intended solely for the addressee(s) and may be legally privileged and/or confidential.
