it is possible to get a straight ethernet connection with a palm pilot. i just got a new palm from symbol technologies with spectrum 24 wireless ethernet. i haven't gotten it to work yet, but it should be able to do what you want. the next generation of palms are supposed to have the wireless ethernet built-in, i think.
