Sometimes it does not add any material value to either network. 
Sometimes it takes too long.

If the acquired company is orders of magnitude smaller than the 
acquiring one, it's probably best to keep them separate.

Of course, I am referring to network integration. Staff and business 
systems integration should always be the goal.
